Recovering From Traumatic Brain Injury

Author raises money, awareness about TBI to help family heal

Janet Kennedy Kiefer is a retired teacher and children’s book author living in the East Valley. She has written and published two books and is writing a third.

Janet is asking people to donate to Barrow Neurological Foundation (BNF) in honor of her daughter, or to buy her children’s book, “Can I Play with You,?” which is dedicated to grandaughter. Both sustained injuries in an accident last year, her daughter having been treated for traumatic brain injury at Barrow. Janet has said she will donate 100 percent of her profit from that book to BNF for research on traumatic brain injury, as well as donating proceeds from the sale of her book “Curious Freckles.”

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when a sudden trauma causes damage to the brain. TBI can result when the head suddenly and violently hits an object, or when an object pierces the skull and enters brain tissue.

You can make a safe and secure donation to the foundation to support TBI online (simply write in the comments section that you would like your donation to benefit TBI research) or by contacting the foundation at 602-406-3041.

Janet has scheduled two readings of her books at Changing Hands Bookstore, 6428 S. McClintock Drive, Tempe, AZ 85283:

Saturday, August 24 at 10 a.m. – “Can I Play with You?”
Friday, November 29 at 10 a.m. – “Curious Freckles”
The books can be purchased at Freisen Press online, Changing Hands Bookstore, Amazon or Barnes and Noble (Customers must request the book; they are print on demand). Most other bookstores should be able to order the books on request.
